Matt Pond PA - Starting It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything new from Matt Pond PA (three years since the group’s last release), but this song is a refreshing reminder of why I like them. The Philly/New York indie group doesn’t tend to branch out much, but it’s nice knowing you can always count on them for a solid tune that’s at once melancholic and...

FRIDAY: I Don't Wanna Work
Check out this rad bootleg of Ryan Adams’ “I Don’t Wanna Work” (outtake from the December 2000 Demolition sessions via BerkeleyPlaceBlog), because it’s awesome… and it’s Friday.  (Would love to post an mp3, but I’ve only been able to listen to it on Hype Machine.)

Stream Broken Social Scene’s new album, Forgiveness Rock Record, in its entirety above courtesy NPR . I’m three songs in and loving what I hear so far. Arts & Crafts will release the album May 4. You can also check out the band’s performance of its first single, “Forced to Love”, last night on the the Late Show with David Letterman here.

In the xx’s new oh-so-artsy video for “Islands,” what at first appears to be dreadfully repetitive choreography serves to symbolize the gradual disintegration of a relationship, as the dancers begin to change things up ever so slightly. I dig it. The video was directed by Saam Farahmand.

Finally, New Damien Rice
Damien Rice’s first official release with his new singing partner Julia Dubsky is finally available (you can stream it here via TwentyFourBit). Rice contributed the track “Under The Tongue” to Welcome Home: Music of Ireland, the soundtrack to a PBS special about contemporary Irish music. This track is predictably dark, but really intriguing. Looking forward to more.

Really, Temper Trap?
I don’t know about you, but I think The Temper Trap really stunk up the stage this morning on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. Follow the link to listen to their entire performance (if you can bear it). I’m not nearly as disappointed as I had been about not seeing them live when they were in L.A. Not trying to hate on the guys, and I will still jam out to their album as...
